another point against long distance

my friend's fiance broke up with her through e-mail. he's working in some middle eastern country. i wish i was in manila so i can drop everything and run to her side to comfort her. i know that our text-marathon during the early morning wasn't enough. she doesn't need to hear that "things happen for a reason" or that "it will all work out". she needs someone to listen to her cry, to sit by her, to hug her, to pig out on ice cream with her. instead, i'm more than a hundred kilometers away. i hate it.
this is another point against long distance relationships. relationships. boys. hehe.
my friend chose to get engaged with the promise that after her bf (now ex) returns from his two-year contract, they would get married. obviously, that's not going to happen now.
kat chose to be engaged to her bf, they're getting married in dec., and then to fly off to london with him--without assurance of work for herself--where he will be working starting jan.
of course, if i were in that situation, i don't think i would choose one or the other. i have a feeling i would take "the road less traveled".:)
