bonding with lolo and lola

i fetched my lolo and lola from the airport the other week. they had last visited from the US 3 yrs ago. they would've been over sooner, but my lola had to undergo emergency procedure, and she has finally recovered enought to make the trip.
when i first saw them, both in wheelchairs, i realized they had grown old. they looked happy enough, but what my dad had said is true: this may be their last trip here. their bodies may not allow the fatigue from the flight anymore. so i resolved to spend as much time as i can with them.
so i sat to talk with them almost every day. went, at their request, to eat with them as they joined old friends at seaside. went to pampanga with them to visit family friends.
now that i'm back in baguio, i find myself missing joking around with my lolo (the only lolo i've ever known, as my mom's father passed away when she was in college), and listenig to my lola try to teach me ilocano.
lola's birthday is next weekend, and by hook or by crook, i will be there. i didn't grow up with them, and i've only ever spent time with them whenever they visit here. i know i'll miss them when they leave.
