PBB connection

this post is long overdue. i don't usually do the whole "i knew him when..." drill because, well, it's not my style. but since quite a few people watched "pinoy big brother: teen edition", i just wanted to share. when the show started, i just reacted with: what, another one? but a few weeks after it was launched, my tita mentioned over lunch: "hey, mikee, tita leny's son, is on PBB". now i remember that kid as an energetic, makulit, very smart 7-year-old. his family was my other tita's neighbor in UP, where i was staying when i was in college. his mom and my tita were close, his older brother and my cousin were friends, and basically, despite our varied ages, we hung out on a regular basis. mostly, they would come to the house, and mangungulit si mikee.
after hearing that he was on the show, i watched 2 episodes (though not in their entirety), to find out how the boy turned out. well, of course, he was much taller and a little darker, but still thin, and some mannerisms carried over from childhood.
a few weeks ago, on one of the few occasions that i caught "the buzz", i found out that they had declared a "big winner". i was happy to learn that mikee placed 2nd. wow, showbiz na siya, i guess. they even have a love triangle going there, over the winner, kim. how real that is, i don't know. the 3rd placer, gerald anderson (is that right?) is kind of cute. but he's, what, 16? 17?:O anyway, he said something really sweet about kim: "she's amazing!"--and with such sincerity. couldn't help but get kilig. yeah, yeah, sucker!:P
so that's about it. i don't anticipate any PBB connection in the near-future. thankfully, my sister's plans to audition for the show were scrapped. good thing too!
