"i don't need a man"

i checked out this chinese birth calendar a while back, when i was doing research for an asian studies class, and found out i was supposed to be a guy. now that explains a lot, doesn't it?
well, here are some other recent occasions that show "i don't need a man":
*in a restaurant, when i was with a friend, it was busy, and no waiter was approaching us. so i went to the counter and asked the cashier if we could order. then i got menus. finally, a waiter followed me to our table.
*a month back, i was in the bus from baguio to manila, at the aisle, across 2 guys in their 20s, i would guess. somewhere in pangasinan, a man boarded the bus, holding a lit yosi. he sat in front of the guy across me. the guy then nudged his friend and motioned that the new passenger had a yosi, then he made a face. i, half-asleep, was annoyed that even after settling into his seat, the man didn't make any effort of extinguishing the yosi. so i reached over, tapped him on the shoulder, pointed to his yosi, and said: "manong, aircon bus po ito." and he promptly put it out. the guys across me looked at me. i was too sleepy to react, and promptly drifted back to sleep. at least i got the job done.
*last night, i was on the bus again down to manila, 5 mins. before departure. when i got to my seat holding my ticket, there was already a woman sitting there. i explained that i had a ticket and the seat was allotted to me (the rest of the seats were already occupied, except for the back row. yech!). she said: "e sabi nung konduktor sumakay na daw kami, kausapin mo siya!" so i went looking for the conductor. when i found him, i explained the situation, and he asked for my ticket. this guy who was behind me in line at the ticket booth, also seemed to have lost his seat, and when he saw i was talking to the conductor, decided to follow us. after my seat was relinquished to me, he asked for the conductor's help as well. hmph! gaya-gaya.
LL was right. i don't need a man. it would be nice...but i don't need one. loving that song!
