episode 3: WOW!

late yesterday, things were not going so well. i had a project that was hanging on the balance--and of course, client wouldn't get back to me til the last minute. then came the strong rains. and the electricity fluctuations in the office. i was beginning to get disappointed, and i was on my way to throwing up my hands and giving up! rye was already at glorietta, and i was still stuck in ortigas at quarter to 7, amid strong winds and rain. i tried using my umbrella, but that really didn't help much. i spent several minutes trying desperately to get a cab. (yes, it was that bad, that going against all i believed in, i decided to get a cab. alone. at night.) finally, finally, finally--after walking back and forth, and maybe even in the middle of the driveway, i found a nice little white kia (bernie & benjie cab), got in, closed the door. then, and only then did i tell the driver: "ma, glorietta po". and alleluia! he didn't complain or anything.
so there i was in the tiny kia cab, going down EDSA, where there were few cars and buses, probably fearing the rain. and we got to glorietta 4 in less than 30 minutes. yehey!
as a bonus, rye and i were able to chat a bit before the movie. and managed to take a picture together too! (missed you!)

bear in mind, this was after i went through, literally, wind and rain to be at the premiere.

*WARNING: may contain spoilers*
so you all know i'm not an expert nor a die-hard fan, but i do like "star wars". and i loved episode 3!!! however you look at it, it's a great film. the cinematography is wonderful--with the different shots and angles--a visual feast! the story and character development are tight. the musical scoring is very appropriate and moving. i wasn't too happy about hayden's acting (sorry, guys!), but natalie portman, samuel l. jackson, jimmy smits, and of course, ewan macgregor are amazing. ewan is so gorgeous! despite the full beard and all! yoda is sooo cool! and now it all makes sense...well, practically. i have to watch episodes 4-6 now. (thanks to dennis for lending me his original boxed set!)
wonderful movie!
**oh, and yes, the answer to the question "where did princess leah get the idea for the hair??" was sort of answered.:D**

mark this day

now it can be told. you guys remember a while back, i said that i just felt i would meet mark bautista sometime soon? well, that moment arrived last night! and, well, though technically, i didn't officially meet him yet--meaning, i wasn't able to wow him with my conversation and bowl him over with my wit and charm--i'm well on my way to that.:) he's really super nice, which is a great plus to his being very talented and cute.;D

haayy... tickled pink!

i may not be worthy, but the force is with me

i was awoken by a phone call from my friend, rye, late saturday night--and i hate getting my sleep disturbed!--but she had great news, so i immediately forgave. i'm watching the premiere of episode 3. yey!!! no, i'm not a 100% die-hard fan, but i appreciate the movies... i watched all of them, mind you! so i'm really very excited to find out how it all comes full circle. so that's just a little more than 24 hours away... i hope i don't ask any stupid questions during the movie, for fear of being mobbed or--shudder!--dragged out of the theatre!

malate SIGN

sign or not...still funny

EK fun day

it's been a while since i've been to enchanted kingdom. but every time, as soon as i see those all-too-familiar silhouettes of wheel of fate and space shuttle, i'm a kid again--excited beyond belief! yesterday was a day or work + play. we buckled down to work shooting people, scenes, rides at the park. then later on, got on some of the rides. i wasn't able to get on ALL my usual rides, but i got on the ones i really really wanted to ride, so that's ok. i didn't have time to get on jungle log jam, which was a first, because that's usually the last ride i take everytime i'm at EK. i didn't get a chance to scream to my heart's content at space shuttle. the "feature" at the rialto was a disappointment this time. (i didn't get to scream, not even once!) but i got to experience the 4D theatre, which was ... interesting. worth the P40 for the experience. we rode the carousel twice. (come on, no amusement park visit is complete without it. whatever age you are!)

my awesome all-access (well, save for a few) band!

but the true highlight of my trip was the ride on the wheel of fate. i have always loved ferris wheels. well, except for the really rickety ones at our school fair. but there's really something so empowering and exhilirating about being many many feet above ground. my first ride was with my dad, at philcite, i think, when i was a kid. i guess there's also that bit of nostalgia involved. but really, i was exhausted from the work and the heat before i got on the wheel of fate. but by the first revolution (is that what it's called??) of the wheel, i was happy again. that's much cheaper than therapy. haha! here are some of the pix from our trip:

*thanks to jac for some of the pix. check out her blog!!!*

later on, at dinner, things got a little--ahem!--out of hand with the fried chicken. (dare i say wild?) hopefully, we're not banned from KFC!;)

we're also bidding jac goodbye as she makes the move from this side of the office to a few meters away to editorial. hope to still see you around, jac!

something about lurve

i'd forgotten about this quote until i checked out my friend mina's blog. and i guess it rings true...

We all want to fall in love. Why?
Because that experience makes us feel completely alive,
where every sense is heightened,
and every emotion is magnified.
Our everyday reality is shattered
and we are flung into the heavens.
It may only last a moment, an hour, or an afternoon,
but that doesn't diminish its value,
because we are left with memories
that we treasure for the rest of our lives.
- "The Mirror Has Two Faces"

this is so me

got this off gizzy's and gwenny's blogs. i find it's true for me. try it yourself!

Your Birthdate: December 11

Your birth on the 11th day of the month makes you something of a dreamer and an idealist.

You work well with people because you know how to use persuasion rather than force.

There is a strong spiritual side to your nature, and you may have intuitive qualities inherent in your make up, too.

You are very aware and sensitive, though often temperamental.

Although you have a good mind and you are very analytical, you may not be comfortable in the business world.

You are definitely creative and this influence tends to make you more of a dreamer than a doer.

good conversation

had a good saturday. went to rockwell for the first time in months for a reunion of sorts and singlehood send-off of sorts for our high school classmate, raquel. yes, for those of you who've been out of the loop, ms. aƱel is getting married!!! she's going to be a june bride. hehehe!;)
we met up in cafe med, too bad some of the people who confirmed weren't able to make it. but we had fun catching up on each other's lives and reliving some choice high school memories. i've known these girls for 15 years! far too long!!! hahaha! but really, it's always wonderful to have conversations with them because they are always insightful and meaningful. we have each grown into confident, beautiful, determined, albeit complicated women. okay, okay, i still don't feel quite my age--but i think there's some good in that too.
so, as raquel bids singlehood adieu, we wish her and dex all the best, as they become the best expat doctors in chicago! (grabe, mahal ang ticket doon ha, worth it ba ang free consultation ninyo? *wink! wink!*)

friends

wasn't having such a great day yesterday. i was feeling a bit down but by 11 pm, i was at least minimally happy again. my friends are my best and most reliable therapy--without the expense! here's to the trio that can get away with anything and make each other laugh and smile, even when each of us is down. simple lang naman trip namin e. free movie, inexpensive food, and lots of laughs. this is the life!!!
also, i started reading this book late last night--and i just have a few pages left.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
i thought long and hard before i bought it. because at first, it felt like i was going to go on a masochist expedition. but i finally decided to spend money on it, and darn happy i did too. it's not a book that says: "oh, get yourself out of that hole, loser!" like i thought at first. it's very liberating, empowering, and enlightening. it identifies problem areas, tells you just why they're problem areas, then gives you not just a pat on the back but a great big hug. it's a "realistic 'little prince'", if you will. hehe! just call me "hot stuff"!:D

a picture paints a thousand words

hahaha! here's a picture one of our companions took at island cove. somehow, words fail to encapsulate the laugh-factor! i will say just one thing: you should've been there to see the backview! hahaha!:D
