godbye to you
the other week, said goodbye to a friend. we had a baguio despedida for lesley (of baguio and now china) at bliss cafe. we pigged out (maybe the more appropriate term is "vegged out"?) on shanti's yummy creations with katti and lesley's mom. i've told you that lesley and i clicked almost the minute we met. well, that night, we spent the entire time teasing katti and lesley (they tried teasing me, but there being no actual guy they could tease me about, and my insistence that RDJ remains the love of my life, i dodged those "bullets") about their guys. lesley's mom also became my "mom"--both she and lesley stared at me for a full minute, and then mommy was convinced: "yes, she does look like your ate". i'm the darker version, of course. after a very long dinner and animated conversation (much of that time spent convincing katti to come with us despite it being a "school day" the next day), we changed location to jim and shanti's to play cranium. i had never played it before, but knew i would like it. i was wrong. i LOVED it!
jim and katti were partners up, lesley and shanti paired up, and the greenhorns, me and mommy formed a team. now you know i'm not really the visual artist--at least not the fine arts. i appreciate it, but can't draw to save my life. but, as luck would have it, we kept on getting "creative cat" questions! argh! of course, i did best with the other stuff--well, except for the performance stuff, jim even said: "that's NOT how that U2 song sounds!" but then again, i never claimed to be a great singer. whatever.:P sina katti, of course, did well with the creative stuff, but not too well on the word stuff. lesley and shanti won at 1 am...and, would you believe, the dark horses coming from behind: me and mommy! that was really cool. i miss playing board games. if you're ever at bliss, and have a group of 4 or more, you can ask to borrow cranium. so cool!
the next day, lesley and i met up just to say goodbye. and we hugged so tightly on the sidewalk. hehe! we both welled up a bit, and i know that she's happy to be fulfilling her dream of living and studying in china, but also sad to leave her friends behind. i'm just happy to have met her and i just know we'll be friends for a long time. now i have a reason to go to beijing!:D
